In our consideration of the theme of dying and death in the visual arts, we were interested in works that thematize not only human death, but also those that deal with the disappearance of nature, in the broadest sense, of which man is only an integral part. We have, therefore, equated the process of dying, finality in general, that is, death of all living beings and the destruction of nature.
In line with our personal view of needing to act in an environmentally responsible way, we have sought to consider artists whose works deal with this theme in some manner, although the artists themselves are certainly not always deliberate about it when working on their pieces; the artists are primarily interested in artistic métier, process and expression.
